Well about 2 years since the wedding and now we have a baby on the way. Cesar and I are over the moon happy. With an equal dose of being scared of our new parent status. Doctors say we are having a boy and the next appointment, which is this week, will confirm that. Hopefully there is no need to return all the blue stuff I have already purchased!!

In just an hour Cesar and I are headed to go pick up our marriage license.   Then it is just 2 short weeks until THE DAY!!!

…please, please…do yourself a favor and hire a wedding planner. It is by far the best money I have spent on this whole process.   I can’t imagine doing this all without an expert in the field.   Even if you think you have plenty of time to “do-it-yourself”, a wedding planner offers so much more:  

• They know the better and more reliable vendors.  
• They have unique ideas to help you along the way.  
• They can often save you money from these ideas.  
• Sometimes you can even get a discount from a vendor if you are working with a planner because the vendor knows things will just go smoother.
• They will go with you on vendor meetings and ask the right questions.
• They will help you stay on budget.
• They will help you keep your theme and colors consistent across all areas: flowers, invites, decor.
• and most importantly…They will be the ones running around making sure everything is perfect on your day…NOT YOU!   (This is priceless in and of itself)

I have discovered the best version of eating cake, EVER!

CAKE BALLS!  

They are phenomenal.   Really.   You gotta trust me on this one.   Be sure to try them at the wedding.   Of course we will have regular cake as well.   This will be considered the ‘groom’s cake’.

So Mom and I spent this last weekend interviewing florists and below are some of our final ideas.   Looks like we are going with the Eggplant Calla Lilly idea.    

Not as red as the second photo.   I told them “No Christmas colors!!”

Feels good to have this decided…now on to finding bridesmaid dresses.

Cesar’s brother Sergio is Awesome!   He pulled out the surprise of the year for us this past weekend.   We already knew that their dad and sister, Simon and Alexia, were coming into town from El Paso to spend Easter weekend with us.   What we didn’t know was that Sergio had other plans.

Sergio got my brother and sister-in-law, Kurt and Jill, as well as my maid of honor, Kristin, to all fly in for a surprise engagement party.   So Cesar and I show up for dinner, Sergio meets us and throws open the curtains and SURPRISE!!   A huge table full of all our closest family and friends.   I’ve never been more shocked.   And I can’t image the planning that went into putting this together.   THANK YOU SERGIO!!!!

The dinner was at Maria Maria…one of my new Austin favorties.   Serg even had a special menu printed and engagement photo for everyone there.   He thought of every detail.   It really was amazing.

After dinner we went to Qua and danced the night away on top of a shark tank.   Very cool.   More friends showed up and we all had a blast.   What a great night.   Anyone who has photos – please send me copies!!

Now…what else is left?

Ok – Photographer is booked and I couldn’t be more excited.   We went with Tyler.   Check out his website and blog when you get a chance.   He does great work.

Close to deciding on a band.   Going to see RadioStar this week and then see if we are moving onto DJs instead.
